| Creating a character can be either a daunting task or something you find you enjoy doing. When making a character it is good to know what the sim you are joining is expecting. Maelstrom is a Galaxy class ship, she is the Flagship of the Federation. This means she will be used in everything from first contact to ambassadorial transportation, from diplomatic negotiations to front line tactics. Only Federation Member world species are allowed to become members of Maelstrom. We do not have Romulans, Dominion, Changelings, Q or any other non-alligned species on the ship. This does not mean that you cannot create your own unique race but it does mean that this race will have been in the Federation for at least 10 years. Communication is limited to those that are in the same room as you or at least the same deck. If the person you are communicating with is another Telepath you might be able to communicate to them if they are on the ship or within a mile radius of your position. If that person is your Wife/Husband/life mate/etc then there is more than likely a bond that will allow you to communicate with that person no matter where they are on the ship. This does not mean you will be keeping a running dialogue with them through the entire sim. Your duty comes first. The Game Master reserves the right to disallow an action that they deem as "Super Person" Action. If a player just keeps in mind that even Troi did not always "Save the Day!" and how irritating it would have been if she had, there should be no problems. If you are having a difficult time figuring out how to begin to make a character you may wish to read this section on creation. For your convenience we have made a template of sorts that you can fill in and use as a bio for your character. Game Masters have the final say on any bio that is submitted to their ship.
