| Creating a character can be either a daunting task or something you find
you enjoy doing. When making a character it is good to know what the sim
you are joining is expecting.
Renaissance Station is set in the Beta Quadrant between Earth, Qonos and Romulus. We accept all Federation member races as well as Klingons and Rhiannsu. All Klingons and Rhiannsu are attached to RenStat under Colonel Flynn Torve. The Galen is a Miranda class vessel that is attached to Ren Stat for use in situations that the Captain deems necessary. We allow telepaths on Renaissance but they must adhere to the telepathic guidelines. Guidelines for telepaths are as follows. Know the Telepath you are portraying. Vulcans are touch telepaths and do not use their abilities to talk to people all over the ship. Nor do they use their abilities to listen in on private conversation on the ship. Betazoids are also strong telepaths and although we know they can hear things all over the ship, we do not get the sense that they can pinpoint just one voice nor that they do this. Even Lwaxana Troi only read those that were nearest her. Please remember, there are rules of etiquette that are involved with being a Telepath. You won't go hoping into people's heads all the time. For one thing, in sim, this causes a Godmoding feeling among the players. Communication is limited to those that are in the same room as you or at least the same deck. If the person you are communicating with is another Telepath you might be able to communicate to them if they are on the ship or within a mile radius of your position. If that person is your Wife/Husband/life mate/etc then there is more than likely a bond that will allow you to communicate with that person no matter where they are on the ship. This does not mean you will be keeping a running dialogue with them through the entire sim. Your duty comes first. The Game Master reserves the right to disallow an action that they deem as "Super Person" Action. If a player just keeps in mind that even Troi did not always "Save the Day!" and how irritating it would have been if she had, there should be no problems. If you are having a difficult time figuring out how to begin to make a character you may wish to read this section on creation. For your convenience we have made a template of sorts that you can fill in and use as a bio for your character. You can find it on our boards under New Player helps. Game Masters have the final say on any bio that is submitted to their
SIM. If you have any questions or need any help on creating your character,
please feel free to email or IM your GM
Team. |
